About me.
I am James Cannan. Technical founder, startup coach, and product builder.
I have worked as a founder, CTO, Director of Research and Development, and Innovation Manager. I have created feasibility prototypes and MVPs in days rather than weeks to validate ideas quickly. I study new ways to build faster, automate more, and reduce wasted time. Now I help founders do the same.
With a PhD in Computer Science and over 15 years of experience, I have worked with organizations such as NASA, universities, health tech companies, and countless startups. I have built websites, apps, prototypes, wearables, and connected Bluetooth products. I understand what it takes to get something working quickly.
My belief is simple. Coaching should never be out of reach. It should be practical, clear, honest, and focused on helping you build something real. I have started and run companies. I understand the pressure, the uncertainty, and the need to stay focused. I help you avoid the common mistakes that waste time and money. Texas Medical Center Accelerator (TMCx) Participant
The TMCx accelerator based in Houston (Texas), advances the development of health and medical technology companies by connecting visionary entrepreneurs to the abundant resources of the Texas Medical Center.
The program is packed with a series of workshops and presentations to help companies refine their value propositions, determine market fit, and help plan entry into the US medical system. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn and network with some of the best medical device companies that are leading the way in developing the future of medical devices.

HAX Hardware Accelerator Participant
Sana was accepted into the HAX program in Shenzhen (China), and is the worlds first and largest hardware accelerator. We spent 4 months developing our technology, networking with other companies, and exploring the incredible Shenzhen electronics markets.
I worked as the CTO with roles including: Electronics Engineer (PCB design), Embedded Systems Designer, Programmer, and Manager.

Director & Senior Software Engineer (Mobile & Web Development)
I cofounded OSI to design and build high-quality software products, from mobile apps to custom platforms, for founders and businesses ready to move fast. We focused on delivering user-friendly, scalable, and genuinely impactful solutions.
Led projects that generated hundreds of thousands in revenue. Built apps and platforms with tens of thousands of active users. Developed websites and cross-platform mobile apps (iOS/Android) using technologies like Next.js, React, React Native, Firebase, Bluetooth, and real-time data. Worked on apps featuring object/face/text recognition, mobile commerce, and automation.
Key highlights: Delivered a Bluetooth-enabled scooter control app for both Android and iOS. Applied AI and automation to streamline internal processes and user flows. Maintained a collaborative, design-first approach, turning ideas into fully functional MVPs, quickly and reliably.

Innovation Manager
Sensor Driven develops ultra long life battery powered sensor solutions, enabling devices to last for decades. The patented technology allows a device to be powered off, but still always be listening for events, and lasts up to 10x longer than what is currently on the market.
I worked across Sensor Driven to help with hardware, software, and business development. I found new industries, ideas, and leads to investigate, met with potential customers, developed circuit boards, and created automated test software. I architected and prototyped new systems and headed up development on Sensor Driven's key contract within the nuclear industry, which completed early and successfully.
